What are you currently doing as an entrepreneur and how long have you been involved with this particular endeavor and what inspired you to pursue it?
I started my own business managing Pinterest accounts for companies in 2020, motivated by the desire to work from home with my children while contributing financially. My background as a creative and former middle school teacher led me to a Pinterest course, inspiring me to establish my own company. I enjoy the flexibility, creativity, and new skills this venture offers.
Describe your typical daily routine, including your morning and evening habits? Are there any specific habits and/or routines that particularly contribute to your business success and your peace of mind within your busy schedule?
My routine is flexible due to my youngest being in part-time preschool. I start my day early with coffee, reading, work, or noting two things I'm grateful for. Mornings are for client work, while afternoons and evenings involve chauffeuring my kids and housework. Evenings are for work catch-up or relaxing with my husband. Early rising and batching work help me meet deadlines and feel centered; missing this quiet time affects my day.
What are the top three sources that inspire you in your business journey, whether individuals, experiences, locations, etc?
My children inspire me the most, as my success provides for them financially and allows flexible, virtual work. Other female entrepreneurs and my dad, who left the corporate world to pursue his business vision, also greatly inspire me.
Are there any business tools or resources that you rely on to facilitate your day-to-day operations?
Canva and Tailwind! I design pins in Canva and schedule them through Tailwind. I use these tools daily!
Throughout your journey as an entrepreneur, what are key lessons you have learned that have steered you to your current success?
Persevere and keep learning! Transitioning from a steady teaching income to the variable earnings of entrepreneurship was tough, but I used slow periods to develop new skills or update existing ones, adapting to the ever-changing social media landscape.
On challenging days, weeks, or months, have you ever contemplated giving up? If so, how do you gather your strength and remain resilient to continue to pursue your entrepreneurial journey?
During challenging times, I stay focused on the big picture by enhancing my skills or getting ahead with current clients, creating space for new opportunities. Remaining optimistic is key, even when it's difficult.
To round off, let's bring in a few personal aspects. What's your definition of success? Do you have a personal mantra that you live by? Can you also share a recent or favorite book you read that provided you with new insights or perspectives?
My definition of success is controlling my life, allowing me to volunteer at school, care for my kids when they're sick, and contribute financially. Feeling successful comes from balancing these with my job.
My guiding principle is self-belief, influenced by James Clear's “Atomic Habits,” which taught me that small changes, like waking up early, can have a significant impact.
